             A self-planned trip or a guided tour?
Part I

I prefer going on self-planned trips for three reasons. First of all, planning a trip by myself provides me with the opportunity to decide where I want to go. The places on a guided tour may not fulfill my needs. Second, I can arrange a schedule that will suit me best. I can spend more time touring the places that appeal to me at my own pace. Instead of rushing around on a tight schedule. I can indulge myself in the relaxing atmosphere of a real vacation.

Last but not least, the research before the trip will broaden my horizons. I can learn more about my destination, such as the transportation, history, and culture there. It will enrich the trip and make it a profound learning experience and not just another way of shopping.

For the three reasons above, I will always plan my own trips.

Part II

Going on a guided tour is my ideal way of traveling. To begin with, I don’t have a sense of direction. This could put me in great danger if there weren’t a professional tour guide around to assist me. Secondly, I don’t have the courage to speak with locals when I am traveling abroad. Although I can speak English, I am not confident that I would always be able to make myself understood. Moreover, if I were in a non-English-speaking country, I wouldn’t understand the simplest thing such as a menu in a restaurant. I think (that)  this would decrease the amount of fun (that) I’d have on my trip.

To sum up, joining a guided tour can save me the time and energy of arranging a trip. All I have to do before the trip is pack my bags.

              Blurring the gender line
Part I

When we were young, boys were taught to be brave and masculine, while girls were taught to be ladylike and obedient. However, as gender roles have changed, so have expectations. Nowadays, men can show their feminine side and women can present their masculine side as well.

The fact that the line between men and women has become less distinct is a sign of progress. Since no one is completely masculine or feminine, we should appreciate that both sides coexist within every individual. Terms such as “sissy” or “tomboy” shouldn’t be used to label people who naturally show more of the other side of their sexuality. Only when no one has to repress his or her true nature will society have more variety and freedom.
